# Knotbind > Knotbind connects businesses to AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and other MCP clients) and keeps those connections working as the APIs behind them change. It runs scheduled Checks against HTTP APIs (OpenAPI 3.0/3.1) and MCP servers (MCP over Streamable HTTP), opens a Finding after two consecutive failures or on Breaking Drift, diagnoses the cause, drafts a Repair Proposal, verifies it in the customer's Sandbox, and applies it only after Owner Approval. Every step is written to an append-only Audit Record. ## Services - [Agent Readiness Check](https://www.knotbind.com/readiness): free, read-only check of whether an AI agent can discover a service, read its OpenAPI description, register itself via OAuth dynamic client registration and connect to its MCP server without a human. Score out of 100 with a fix list. - [Pricing](https://www.knotbind.com/pricing): USD excluding applicable taxes. Free: readiness checks, 3 Checks run daily, Findings emailed, API/MCP/CLI/OAuth. Pro $199 per month: 10 Checks hourly, diagnosis and verified fixes, Gateway, 5 members. Business $399 per month: 25 Checks every 5 minutes, fixes to your deployment pipeline, EU hosting and DPA, one Build included (12-month term), 20 members. Enterprise is agreed in writing and is not a Stripe plan. Payments by Stripe; an agent can start a Pro or Business upgrade via the API and a person pays. - [MCP servers](https://docs.knotbind.com/docs/mcp-servers): a registry of your MCP servers. Each server is polled on its own schedule, every tool schema is fingerprinted, and a breaking change opens a Finding. Covers contract Checks, answer-shape Baselines, workflow Checks, per-server health, sealed credentials and OAuth 2.1 as a client. - [Reliability](https://www.knotbind.com/): scheduled Checks, Findings, diagnosis and Sandbox-verified fixes with Owner Approval. - [Build](https://www.knotbind.com/build): OpenAPI to MCP generation, executable stdio/stateless HTTP export and private hosting. Owner-confirmed read-only Sandbox Checks. One Build included in Business. The page includes a fictional shop, clinic, restaurant and parts counter walked from an assistant question through Build, Reliability, the Gateway, modules and EU or US hosting. Not a customer and not a revenue claim. - [Agent error handling](https://docs.knotbind.com/docs/gateway): opt-in status and explicit validation field hints on Pro/Business. No invented corrections or automatic retries; success streams unchanged. - [Credential management](https://docs.knotbind.com/docs/credential-vault): Business operation-bound encrypted vault; Owner-approved API-key/OAuth client/member execution grants for 15-60 minutes. No raw credential vending. - [Services](https://www.knotbind.com/services): the business problem behind each offer — Build, Reliability, Gateway, hosting region — and the five Gateway modules. - [Knotbind Gateway](https://www.knotbind.com/gateway): managed OpenAI-compatible AI gateway with an access key, monthly budget and request rate per app. Included in Pro and Business. Caching, failover, response redaction and workspace analytics are paid modules. - [Hosting regions](https://www.knotbind.com/eu): pick where the gateway, monitoring and all stored data run. EU (Knotbind EU: GDPR DPA, model allow-list, personal-data redaction, included in Business) or the United States under standard contract terms, available on every plan. - [Gateway modules](https://docs.knotbind.com/docs/plugins): paid add-ons that extend the Gateway with Semantic Cache, Content Guardrails, Model Failover, Advanced Rate Limits and Request Analytics. - [MCP Directory](https://www.knotbind.com/directory.json): machine-readable directory of vetted, monitored MCP servers. Lists servers by readiness score, uptime, and connection evidence. Customers opt in from their dashboard. (Human-browsable UI coming soon) - [Security](https://www.knotbind.com/security): Sandbox-only Checks, SSRF guards, Approval gate, redaction, kill switch. - [Contact](https://www.knotbind.com/contact) ## For agents Agent operations are available without a browser; credential storage and consent, approving or deploying production changes remain Owner-only dashboard actions. Our customer directory: https://www.knotbind.com/directory.json - [OpenAPI description](https://www.knotbind.com/openapi.json): REST API under https://www.knotbind.com/api/v1, Bearer API keys with read and write scopes. - MCP server: https://www.knotbind.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Public tools: sign_up, run_readiness_check. Other tools need an OAuth 2.1 sign-in or Authorization: Bearer kbk_... - OAuth 2.1: metadata at https://www.knotbind.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server, dynamic client registration at https://www.knotbind.com/oauth/register, authorization code with PKCE (S256). Protected resource metadata at https://www.knotbind.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource. - Sign up programmatically: POST https://www.knotbind.com/api/v1/signup with company, name and email returns an API key. - CLI: `knotbind` (bin/knotbind.mjs), JSON output, configured with KNOTBIND_API_KEY and KNOTBIND_URL. ## FAQ ### What is Knotbind? Knotbind connects businesses to AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Grok, and keeps those connections working. We build the API and MCP server an assistant needs, run a gateway between your apps and AI models, and watch every connection so a change on one side does not silently break the other. ### What is an MCP server, in plain words? MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants call outside tools. An MCP server is the small piece of software that tells an assistant what your business can do, such as check stock or book a slot, and carries out the request safely. ### Does Knotbind change anything on its own? No. Every fix is first tested in a Sandbox, a safe copy of your system, and only applied after the named Owner approves it. Each step is written to an Audit Record that is never edited. ### How is this different from API monitoring? Monitoring tells you an endpoint returned an error. Knotbind maps the failure to the assistant action it breaks, explains the change behind it, and hands you a fix that already passed in the Sandbox. ### What happens when our MCP server changes? Knotbind keeps a registry of your MCP servers and fingerprints every tool schema. A change that breaks callers — a removed tool, a new required parameter, a changed type — opens a Finding and reaches you by email, Slack or webhook. Each server also has its own health, so you can see which one is down and which one is fine. ### Can Knotbind turn an OpenAPI specification into a hosted MCP endpoint? Yes. In the Business Build dashboard, upload OpenAPI 3.0/3.1 JSON, preview selected tools, download schemas or an executable server package, and explicitly deploy a private hosted endpoint. Owners can confirm a Sandbox and enroll validated read-only Checks. Credentials are encrypted; client-credentials OAuth and temporary operation grants are supported. Writes require opt-in. Local verification is not real-assistant or production certification. ### How does the Gateway help agents understand errors? Pro and Business Owners can enable structured error hints per Gateway key. Hints use HTTP status and fields explicitly identified by validation errors, with Retry-After guidance where provided. They never invent renamed fields or refresh URLs, expose raw credential-bearing errors, or automatically retry writes. Successful responses and streams are unchanged. ### Can we delegate API operations without sharing our upstream credentials? Business Owners can store encrypted, operation-bound credentials and consent to exact tools for an API key or OAuth client/member for 15-60 minutes. Vended tokens authorize guarded execution, not raw-secret access. Credential rotation, expiry and revocation invalidate grants; interactive upstream login and 2FA remain human-owned. ### Can our data stay in the EU? Yes. You pick the hosting region: EU hosting runs the gateway, the monitoring and all stored data on infrastructure in the European Union with a GDPR data processing agreement (included in Business), or US hosting on infrastructure in the United States under standard contract terms. ### Are caching, fallback and guardrails included in the Gateway? No. Pro and Business include the Gateway itself: one OpenAI-compatible endpoint, an access key per app, a monthly budget, a request rate and a per-key usage log. Semantic Cache ($19), Content Guardrails ($19), Request Analytics ($15), Model Failover ($29) and Advanced Rate Limits ($12) are optional monthly modules. Turning a module on does not create a fallback rule or an extra quota until you add one.
